“Helping others is not only a duty, but a privilege. It allows us to connect with others, give back to society, and bring meaning to our lives.” -E.L.C.

In all the ways I serve my community, I strive to be an

Authentic Servant Leader

Why I Serve

Part of my childhood, I grew up in a northern suburb of Chicago, adjacent to Naval Station Great Lakes (NAVSTA). Many of my classmates lived on the Navy base, and I can vividly remember some of their parents sent to the Middle East to serve in the Iraq war. Years later, when flying, I would give my first-class seat to any service person out of appreciation and admiration.

Over the years, I often asked myself why was I afraid of the word serving. After a few tough years, I realized I needed to redirect my energy towards a more constructive mindset and leave behind the destructive mindset that left me feeling unable to serve. Thereafter, I served at the Men’s Shelter of Charlotte, which deeply impacted my lens community service. Since 2016, serving has been a core value and priority in my life.

Where I Serve

Many nonprofits exemplify the best of communities. They provide a way for people to work together for the common good, transforming shared beliefs and hopes into action. Nonprofits shape to our boldest dreams, highest ideals, and noblest causes.

Where I serve is extremely important to me. Before committing to serving for a nonprofit, I ask myself:

  • Am I committed to sharing my time and talents to help make the community a better place?

  • Am I willing to be an enthusiastic supporter for an organization and encourage others to get involved?

  • Do I have specialized skills, lived experience, expertise, or enthusiasm that could benefit a nonprofit board’s work?

  • I am so grateful for the local nonprofits my family and I are so fortunate to serve.

Who I Serve

Both in a professional sense and a community service sense, I have always been drawn to serving the next generation. In my career building amusement park teams, I have generally worked with teenagers and young adults.

I believe when you serve others, you create a ripple effect of positivity and kindness. Inspiring and creating a sense of purpose with students has been a source of fulfillment and pride.

Community of Hearts

“Anthony has served as chairman of the Board for nearly two years and in that time he has proved his strong passion for the mission of caring for vulnerable children and families in York county and beyond.”
